In addition, removing coarse materials from sludge can increase cogeneration efficiency and improve the quality of your sludge.
Fine grit removal
Hydraulically driven vortex grit separation systems such as the HeadCell® capture grit as small as 75 microns with minimal headloss using modular stacked trays that increase the settling surface area and reduce settling distances. With no moving parts and requiring no power, these systems represent Advanced Grit Management at its most effective.
Grit washing and dewatering
Removal is only part of the challenge that grit presents to wastewater treatment plants - for cost-effective disposal, removed grit must be cleaned and dried before it can be transported off site. Grit washing and dewatering systems such as GritCup® and SpiraSnail® reduce the weight content of removed grit for onward transportation and enables easier, lower-cost disposal by incineration.
Rags and other inclusions from primary or secondary wastewater sludge are effectively removed by a screening system such as the Hydro-Sludge® Screen - maintaining essential digester efficiency, as well as minimising maintenance downtime and vessel cleaning.
